GUDC Cleans Up The Seaway!

A heap of members from the Griffith Uni Dive Club took time out their busy schedules to do some good for the marine world today. Here's our story...

22 of us ventured down to the end of the spit, onion bags in hand, gloves on, and with a mission in mind... to save some critters by removing the mountains of discarded fishing line, hooks, and other trash that has accumulated in the seaway.

The vis had dropped a bit from the 15m it was earlier in the week, but that didn't make it any harder to find things to collect... fishing line is everywhere down there! About an hour later, we all surfaced, bags full, to a well earned BBQ prepared by Ben (thanks Benny!).

We had a few visitors including Megan from the Save Our Spit Association, and the Sarah Shark crew were there to film a video of our exploits, so keep an eye out for that, and thanks to Devocean Dive for all of your help and gear. All in all it was a great day, thanks to everyone who came and helped out.

Here's some pics of the crew in action, and some of the marine life. Enjoy!
